About Essence Therapy Services

Therapy offers a space where you can slow down, reflect, and begin to better understand yourself.

Many individuals come to therapy because something in life feels overwhelming, confusing, or emotionally heavy. Others come because they notice patterns in their emotions or relationships that they want to understand more deeply.

At Essence Therapy Services, our work focuses on helping you explore these experiences with curiosity and compassion while developing greater emotional awareness and resilience.

We provide trauma-informed therapy in Costa Mesa, serving individuals throughout Orange Count and Los Angeles County, with online therapy available throughout California and Oregon.

Meet Verenice

Verenice Torres EMDR therapist in Costa Mesa with EMDR light used in trauma therapy

Hi, I’m Verenice, a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and founder of Essence Therapy Services.

For over 12 years, I have had the privilege of supporting children, teens, and adults as they navigate emotional challenges, life transitions, and relationship difficulties. My goal as a therapist is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and truly heard.

Many of the individuals I work with come to therapy because they are feeling overwhelmed, noticing patterns in their relationships, or wanting to better understand their emotional experiences. Therapy offers an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and begin making sense of those patterns with curiosity and compassion.

You can learn more about the services offered, including Individual Therapy, Anxiety Therapy, and EMDR Therapy, to explore what may best support you.

My Background

I earned my graduate degree from the University of Southern California and have experience working with children, adolescents, families, and adults across a variety of settings.

These experiences have shaped my approach to therapy and deepened my understanding of how early experiences can influence emotional wellbeing later in life.

In my work with adults, I often focus on inner child healing, attachment patterns, and emotional patterns that may be connected to earlier life experiences.

For children and teens, therapy provides a supportive space to develop emotional awareness, build confidence, and strengthen coping skills as they navigate the challenges of growing up.

My Approach to Therapy

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, collaborative, and compassionate.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work together to explore the underlying emotional patterns that may be influencing your experiences today.

I integrate approaches such as EMDR therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and strengths-based techniques to support individuals in processing difficult experiences and developing healthier emotional responses.

I provide in-person therapy in Costa Mesa serving Orange County & Los Angeles County, and I am licensed to offer online therapy throughout California and Oregon.

Who I Often Work With

Many of the individuals who come to therapy are navigating experiences such as:

• anxiety or emotional overwhelm
• depression or persistent sadness
• relationship challenges or repeating relationship patterns
• grief or significant life transitions
• self-doubt or feeling behind in life

Some individuals come because they want to better understand how past experiences may still influence their present emotions and relationships.

Others simply want a supportive space where they can talk openly about what they are experiencing and develop healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges.

Outside of the Therapy Room

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, paddle boarding, playing golf, and occasionally visiting Disneyland.

These moments of balance and connection remind me that while life can sometimes feel difficult, it can also hold moments of joy, meaning, and growth.

A Note for New Clients

If you’re considering therapy, it’s completely normal to have questions or feel unsure about where to begin.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Often the first step is simply allowing yourself the opportunity to explore what has been weighing on you.

If you’re curious about whether therapy might be helpful, I invite you to schedule a consultation.
