Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy often comes with questions. Whether you're new to therapy or exploring a specific approach like EMDR, we’ve answered some of the most common questions to help you feel more informed and supported.

General Therapy Questions

  • Many people begin therapy because something feels overwhelming, confusing, or difficult to navigate on their own.

You don’t need a specific reason to start—therapy can be helpful for gaining insight, support, and a better understanding of yourself.

  • Most individuals begin with weekly sessions. Over time, this may shift depending on your needs, goals, and progress.

  • Therapy is a personal process and looks different for everyone. Some individuals come for a short period to work through a specific concern, while others continue longer-term for ongoing support and growth.

EMDR Therapy

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process distressing experiences so they feel less overwhelming over time.

  • EMDR therapy in Costa Mesa can support individuals experiencing:

    • trauma and difficult life experiences

    • anxiety and emotional triggers

    • negative beliefs about themselves

    • recurring emotional patterns

  • EMDR therapy is a structured and well-researched approach. Sessions are guided at a pace that feels manageable, with preparation and grounding techniques to support emotional safety.

Attachment Healing Therapy

  • Attachment healing therapy focuses on understanding how early relationships may influence current emotional patterns and relationships.

  • You may notice patterns such as fear of abandonment, difficulty trusting others, or feeling disconnected in relationships. Therapy can help you explore these patterns with greater awareness.

EMDR Intensives

  • EMDR intensives provide extended sessions that allow you to stay engaged in the process without having to pause each week. This can help create more continuity and depth in the work.

  • EMDR intensives may be helpful for individuals who want to focus more deeply on their healing, prefer longer sessions, or feel that weekly therapy is slow or interrupted.

  • EMDR intensives are designed to be both focused and supportive. There is time for breaks, pacing, and grounding throughout the process.
